Anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE BUCKET LISTS!
I have a massive one that includes anything from learning calligraphy to
riding a camel to eating sushi in Japan to hiking Machu Pichu. So naturally, I thought it would be the greatest. thing. ever. to do a wedding bucket list!
Here we go!
Wedding Bucket List
One // First things first, you obviously have to fall in love – DONE! We met on Match.com in early November of 2016. I saw one of his photos from his profile and “liked” it. He was out of town for his cousin’s wedding and busy at work so it took him a few days to get back to me. He sent the first message and that was it. We still have our first several conversations and it’s so fun to go back and reread those. I preferred to take things slowly (I’d been on enough boring first dates) so we waited about a week before meeting each other…I even made him wait 4 or 5 days before giving him my phone number, haha!
Two // Get engaged! All the heart eyes when Pete proposed to me – DONE!It was like any normal Saturday – we spent the morning hiking, eating donuts for a blog post I’m writing (tough tough work, you guys), hanging out at home etc. We had dinner reservations at Travail, which I knew about prior, and well before we needed to leave Pete was ready to go and very anxious. He asked me to get ready, sat me down on the couch, gave me an adorable photo book he made (still makes me cry) and after we flipped through it, he asked me to be his wife. Could not have been more perfect.
Three // Have a spa day – wedding planning is tough. Pete’s gift to me for my birthday was a day at the spa and lemme tell y’all…that is one of the greatest gifts ever, haha. We are getting married in Utah and plan to do loads of hiking prior to the wedding – Angels Landing, anyone? So we will both be in dire need of a good massage. Could be a nice way to relax the day of the wedding as well.
Four // Face our fears – do something scary together. This will definitely be hiking Angels Landing, at least for me. I’m just a bit scared of heights but I’m learning that fear largely pertains to man-made structures. I think I’ll be fine out there, but we’ll see.
Five // Reenact our first date together – go back to where it all started! Our first date was at a local brewery in town called Dangerous Man. We’ve gone back several times since then, even sat at our table a few times. Such great memories. We’ll be sure to go back one last time before becoming husband and wife!
Six // Take a break – go somewhere quiet and relaxing – Camping! Pete and I absolutely love to camp. Next to hiking, it is our favorite past time. It’s still really cold up here, like to the tune of negative degrees…damn you Minnesota! haha. But, we have a lot of camper cabins at all the nearby parks. We’re headed out in a couple weeks to unplug, relax, and enjoy each others company.
Seven // Write a love letter- we are writing our own vows so that will be the letter, but something small for the morning of the wedding. I didn’t know people do gifts for their spouses? Apparently, that’s a thing so maybe a short, sweet letter with a little gift.
Eight // Marry my best friend – cliche, but we really are the best of friends. I’ve never ever found someone who was so much my other half as he is. We cannot wait to get married.
Nine // Have an epic honeymoon – we don’t have any plans…yet. Where should we go?! We are taking a big trip this fall which will be great fun, but one of my brothers is coming with us so…not a honeymoon haha.
Ten // Spend the rest of our lives together – all I wanna do is grow old with you… I never want to get older, but if I have to I wanna do it next to him. Besides, good things are coming… #dembabies
